DAVIET ROOLS OUT INDUSTRY ACADEMIA MODELLING WEEK

The Departments of Business Administration, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering of the Institution  organized an Industrial Week here at the campus  to equip the students with the latest technical know how to cater to the needs of the Industry. Over the course of next five days series of Expert Lectures,  Workshops, Laboratory Sessions, Aptitude Tests, Real Life Entrepreneurial Lectures and Industrial Visits will be organized. Further, the students will be given hands on practical lessons through the latest Simulation Tools  and Industry Based Projects.

Mr. M.B.S Tuli , Director (Operations) International Tractors Limited (ITL), Hoshiarpur, Mr. Davendra Pal Khari, Director DKOP Labs, Mr. Kirti Karan, R & D Engineer, Embedded Division, DKOP  Labs  and Mr. Dixant Dawar, Director IMS group were the resource persons on the first day of the Industry Week.  

Dr. Manoj Kumar in his welcome address appreciated the efforts put in by the three departments ( MBA, ECE and ME) for organizing the Industrial Week.  He laid stress on the importance of industry exposure, and exhorted the students to go for inter-disciplinary studies through interventions like multi-disciplinary major projects, inter-departmental collaboration within and outside the campus and  participation in different tech-fairs.  He  highlighted that at the Institute the focus is on Peer to Peer learning so that students can explore the emerging fields together. He also shared that at the Institute latest Labs like Innovation  Lab  ( Texas India), Hardware Lab( Huawei), Robotics Lab etc have been set up to provide the students latest practical knowledge in their respective fields. He also stated that in   future  more such Industrial Weeks will be organized so as to provide the students the necessary exposure in consonance with the syllabus.

Mr. Tuli Director (Operations) International Tractors Limited (ITL), Hoshiarpur, had an interactive session with the  budding technocrats and managers. He  stated that the technology is changing at rapid speed, and the academia should ensure that their curriculum and pedagogy remains updated as per the requirements of the former. In addition, the students should also learn management skills apart from technical expertise, so that they should be able to translate their technical expertise in real-time success stories. Mr. Tuli also laid stress on sharing of knowledge and called upon the students to form tech-networks comprising of both the seniors and juniors, for sharing of ideas and expertise.

Mr. Dixant Dawar, Director IMS group, conducted a workshop on “Gateway to Competitive Exams” and highlighted the essentials for cracking competitive exams.  Mr. Davendra Pal Khari, Director DKOP Labs gave seminar on “ Semi Conductor  Industry Awareness and How to get into Core Electronics” and Mr. Kirti Karan, R & D Engineer, Embedded Division, DKOP  Labs gave a demo on “IOT and VLSI Design using Verilog and FPGA

Dr. Sonia Chawla, Head Department of Business Management  showed her confidence that students will gain valuable insights through interaction with the experts from the industry. She shared her optimism that the students will get the exposure required to cater to the needs of the industry. Mr. Gurav Dhuria, Head Department of Mechanical Engineering, laid stress on the importance of  continuous learning, sincerity and focus towards the task in hand as some of the ingredients of success. He showed his belief that the talented students of the Institution under the stewardship of Dr. Manoj will become brand ambassadors for the Institution. Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head Department of Electronics and Communication  Engineering shared her belief that through the interactive sessions and industrial visits the students will get hands on practical knowledge about the latest in their fields and they will set high benchmarks for others to emulate.

“Sh. D.S.Sodhi, Joint Managing Director, Oliver Engineering Pvt. Limited, Interacts with students of DAVIET on 4th day of Industry Week”

The Departments of Business Administration, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering of the Institution have organized Industrial Week from Feb 13-17, 2017 at the campus  to equip the students with the latest technical know-how to cater to the needs of the Industry. During the course of these five days series of Expert Lectures, Workshops, Laboratory Sessions, Aptitude Tests, Real Life Entrepreneurial Lectures and Industrial Visits are being organized. The students are also being given hands on practical lessons through the latest Simulation Tools  and Industry Based Projects.

 

Sh. D.S. Sodhi, Joint Managing Director, Oliver Engineering Pvt. Limited, (An AMTEK Group Company) was the key resource person in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Sodhi is a renowned name in the industry circle and has over 40 years of experience while being associated with companies like DCM, Mahindra and Mahindra and Oliver Engineering. He was accompanied by Sh. S. N. Gaur, DGM-HR, Oliver Engineering Private Ltd. Welcoming the expert and participants

Sh. Gaurav Dhuria, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, welcomed the guests to the institute and shared that the relevance of the industry week was to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia. He apprised about the various activities being carried out during the week and in the sequence of same, the students will go to industrial visit to International tractors Limited, Hoshiarpur tomorrow.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET Jalandhar, stated that industry academic interaction is the need of the hour. He said that the students should take their projects during training period with skilled staff members of the industry to hone their technical skills.

Sh. Sodhi in his address enlightened the students with his motivating lecture. He highlighted the importance of technology transfer in today’s life. He stressed the importance of reading and suggested the students to devote atleast half an hour to study latest technologies relevant to their area of interest. He stressed the importance of skills including honesty, teamwork, transparency and tenacity as the main ingredients of success. He also quoted an example of Mr. Arvind Dham, a well-known successful industrialist to motivate the students. He stressed the importance of goal setting and asked students to remain focused in their goal. The session with Sh. Sodhi was a perfect blend of deliberation on current trends in technology, especially casting technology, and at the same time he also extensively covered the concept of inner engineering to practice the personality traits like honesty and truthfulness even in adverse circumstances. Towards the end there was a thorough interactive session as Sh. Sodhi answered the queries of students related to careers.

The final day of the Industry week of ECE department proved to be yet another day of knowledge transfer from industry experts to students. Experts from “CRANES Varsity”delivered a seminar on embedded systems and carrier opportunities in embedded industry.MrMayankRanjan Manager and Mr. Mohammed Sikander,Technical Leader,discussed about opportunities for ECE students to work on live industry projects in association with CRANES. Industry week organized by ECE department received overwhelming response from the students and this effort has been highly praised by the industry. During this week response from the industry was quite encouraging and it has opened new avenues for training and placement of ECE students.

During the valediction ceremony, Principal,Dr. Manoj Kumar, appreciated the efforts put in by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for organizing the Industry Week.HOD, DrNeeruMalhotraextended vote of thanks to the dignitaries and faculty/staff of ECE department for meticulous organization of this mega event.
