Industry Week & Technical Quiz

IInd Prize Winner at “University Design Contest” held by ST Microelectronics, Greater Noida

It feels immense proud to share that the students of Department of ECE secured 2nd prize at the “University Design Contest” hosted by ST Microelectronics, Greater Noida on Feb. 28,2020.

From various regions of India, 30 premier institutes participated in the event. The top 10 were selected from which two teams were of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology. The first team selected was comprised of Nitansh Nagpal, Vicky Kumar, Parkashdeep Chauhan and Nishit Arora all of final year students and the mentors of the team were Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET and Mr. Navleen S Rekhi, Asstt. Prof.,ECE. They presented the design prototype of “Robotic gripper control using EEG signal on ARM μC” and bagged 2nd position. They also being awarded with  cash prize of Rs.30,000 and Rs. 10,000  worth Amazon vouchers. The second team : Manpreet S., Dhairya Jain and Daksh Vachherof 6th semester and the mentors were Dr. Manoj Kumar and Dr.Neeru Malhotra, Head, ECE. They presented the design prototype of “Portable Wireless Charging Powerbank” and bagged 5th position and awarded with Rs. 10,000 Amazon vouchers.

The principal Dr. Manoj Kumar, congratulated the winners and advised them to keep up the passion towards innovative research.  He said participation and winning in such events boost the morale of the students. It also helps the students to nurture towards  industry oriented competent manpower. He shared his vision of developing an Innovation Lab., so that more students get  involved in creating core applications.

In this proud moment,Dr.Neeru Malhotra also congratulated the students and said that such participation develops the attitude of lifelong learning and inculcate adaptability towards new technology. Mr. Navleen S Rekhi,  added that students had shown their excellence in the emerging areas of technology.

Robo-Tug of War

The Department of ECE had organized the event “Robo-Tug of War”. The participants of event were from the department of CSE, I.T. & ECE.  It is well known that in tug of war, winner is always the stronger of the two teams. For this event, the bots were put on the track and  the winner is the team which pulls the opponent’s bot over the mid line. At the end, the team Electronauts – Aahaana, Manpreet Singh and Ayush from ECE-6th Sem were declared winners. The runners up were the team MetalHeads- Ayush, Mehak Sharma and Aastha all from I.T.-2nd Sem.

Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head,  appreciated the faculty coordinators Dr. Love Kumar and Mr. Navleen S Rekhi for the success of the event. She also congratulated the student coordinators: Ajooni Walia, Harish Kumar, Mayank Verma and Harpreet Singh for their sincere efforts to prepare and motivate the participants for their active participation in the event.

At the valediction ceremony, faculty members of ECE also congratulated the winners.

Race of Bots

The Department of ECE had organized a Robo Race competition under club of Society of Innovative Elektrocrackers (SiNe) – “ Race of Bots”. The student from various departments of institute had participated in the competition. In the event, participating team had to cross the hurdles and to complete the track. The lesser the time taken by competitor, would lead the team  to be a winner. The event was inaugurated by Dr, Neeru Malhotra, Head, ECE in the presence of faculty coordinators Dr. Love Kumar and Mr. Navleen S Rekhi. The student organizers were Manpreet S,  Ayush , Daksh Vachher and Dhairya Jain. After the successful completion of event,  the winners were given the certificates.

Buddy Program (Anti Drug Campaign of Govt. Of Punjab) – Awareness program on ‘Stand against drug abuse’ on 31st January, 2020.

An awareness seminar on was organized by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 31 January, 2020. The invited speakers were Mr. Akashdeep Singh, Ms. Kamaljit Kaur and Mr. Dupinderjit Singh from NGO “Roots for Being”. The seminar was aimed at the prevention of drug abuse through mass awareness among students.

The students were advised to avoid the company of those who are indulged in drug abuse. Students should go out for tree plantation, free teaching in slum areas and help needy people, serve old and senior citizens. This way, they can get stress free life without getting lured by drugs and bad habits. The seminar ended with an oath-taking ceremony. All the students, faculty and staff present over there took an oath to say no to alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs and remain healthy.

Prize winners at different events

The other students Manpreet Singh and Ajooni Walia participated in the event “ The Golden Bot” and “OFF Road” and awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5500/-. at the PU, Hoshiarpur Campus.The Department of ECE feels proud to state that the students has participated and awarded with cash prizes worth of Rs. 15500/- in National Level technical events held at premiere institutes. The students Sehaj Jolly,Daksh Vachher and Tushar Gupta secured first position in AquaJet and rewarded with cash prize of Rs.3500/- held at Panjab University, Hoshiarpur Campus. They also participated in the event “ Project Sushen” held at IIT Ropar and secured 2nd position. Also, Sehaj Jolly,Daksh Vachher Ekta and Diksha secured first position in the event “Line of Fate” and awarded with cash prize Rs. 3500/- at the PU, Hoshiarpur Campus.

Also, Sehaj Jolly and Daksh Vachher participated the event “Rc Dragers” held at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and secured 1st position. Further, they also being awarded with cash prize of Rs 3000/- in the event ”Drone Competition” held at CGC Landran. The students have shown their versatility to keep pace with the fast changing technology and also attaining the DAVIET mission of promoting creative competence, to produce skilled human resource.

2nd prize in Quiz- Prashotri

The students of ECE had participated in the Quiz- Prashotri held at CT Group of Institutes Jalandhar. The quiz was based on General Knowledge of National significance. A total of eight teams from various institutes of Jalandhar had participated in the event. The Department of ECE is gratified to state -Saksham Arora, Paavan Misser and Himanshu bagged the 2nd prize in the competition.

On this occasion, Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head, ECE had congratulated the participants and motivate them to excel in the field of interest so that they can achieve great success in more such events.

Arduino Workshop” from January 16-21, 2020

With the continuous support and blessings of The Principal, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Department of ECE under the club of Ineo Creaters had organized “Arduino Workshop” from January 16-21, 2020. The faculty coordinators, Mr Navleen S Rekhi, and Dr. Love Kumar, under the leadership of Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Associate Prof. and Head, had made the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the workshop.
The theme of the workshop is to inculcate the enthusiasm of dealing the conceptual learning practically. More than 50 students had participated from various Departments of the institute. The workshop was focused on the basics of Arduino and its practical utility. The student coordinators, Daksh Vachher, Dhairya Jain, Manpreet S, Ajooni Walia , Harish Kumar and Ayush all of ECE-6th Semester had mentored the participants and conducted the practical sessions. The participants were imparted with the knowledge about various sensors, PCB layout and applications of Arduino. The discussion forum was also held before the start of every session. It helped out to clear the doubts and attained the better understanding of the development board.
The successful completion and accomplishment of theme was acknowledged from the feedback form filled by the participants. Keeping this in mind, Dr. Neeru Malhotra gave a vote of thanks and congratulate the team of co-ordiantors for success of the event. She also added to conduct more such events for creating technically competent professionals. On valediction ceremony, the certificates were given to the participants and congratulated them for fruitful participation.

Expert Talk by Dr. Anand Nayyar, Professor, Graduate school, Duy Tan University, Vietnam

Dr. Anand Nayyar, Professor, Graduate school, Duy Tan University, Vietnam delivered a marvelous lecture on Industry 4.0. He gave an eye opening stats related to current scenario of automation industry. Top 10 industry trends in upcoming years presented by him. He provided valuable knowledge and guided students for pursing real-time projects. He discussed about the perfect relationship between evolution and revolution in terms of industry. He motivated students to work for realization of #MakeinIndia.

One Student One Tree” – A Tree Plantation Drive for Better Tomorrow

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, DAVIET has launched a Tree plantation drive “One Student One Tree” on 21st August 2019 under the aegis of DAV College Managing Committee and AICTE, aimed at planting 1100 trees in its campus and areas surrounding the campus that are adopted and maintained by DAVIET.

 

 

Industry Week from 19-23 August, 2020.

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering  organized industry week from August 19-23, 2019. On August 20, 2019, three simultaneous workshops were organized for the student of 2nd , 3rd and 4th years. 2nd years students were introduced to Raspberry Pi and its application in Internet of Things (IoTs) whereas the students of 3rd and 4th years were engaged in computer networking. Visit to village Kala Bahian district Jalandhar to provide NGO services

The students of ECE had visited village Kala Bahian district Jalandhar to provide NGO services for the partial fulfillment of Post 1st Year Training. The students had interacted with more than 200 household to make aware of Government Schemes, general cleanliness and to understand common problems the residents of kala bahain are facing in day to day lives. The total 65 students had participated in this NGO service. The coordinators of the program were a team of faculty members Dr Neeru Malhotra, Head, ECE, Mr. Rajesh Wadhwa,Dr Love Kumar, Ms Poonam Sethi, Mr Navleen S Rekhi and Ms. Shallu Singh. The students had a great experience while interacting with the villagers and were keen to resolve general problems through technology.

 

Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness drive

The students of Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering took part in “Swachh Bharat Mission Cleanliness Drive”. During this activity they encouraged their peer to keep their surroundings neat and clean.

 

ST Microelectronics had invited innovative ideas from students of various premier institutes. The students of DAVIET Jalandhar has submitted four innovative ideas. Out of four, two ideas have been selected for final presentation due on Feb. 14, 2020 (the details are attached below).

Triktronics finalsine membersENGINEER’S DAY

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering had celebrated Engineers day based on the theme “The life of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam”. Around 110 students from various departments had enthusiastically participated in various events viz. Poster Making, Tech Tambola and Tech Sharaj organized on engineer’s day. The winners of the event were Raghav & Meenu, Parnika & Gurleen (Tech Tambola) and Harleen & Chitwan(Tech Sharaj) respectively.

The winners of the events were given prizes & certificates at the validating ceremony which includes the heart pondering speeches on the life of Dr. M. Vishveshvarya & Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Dr. Neeru Malhotra, HOD of ECE stressed upon the achievements of the Department& wished budding engineers a very bright future. The Event went successful under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Manoj Kumar who addressed the students on the importance of engineering & how Discipline & Positive stress can help in the corporate life. The event was overall a Great Success.
