STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAM (SIP-23) AT DAVIET PAVES THE PATH FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND CULTURAL ENRICHMENT

In a remarkable endeavor to shape the future leaders of tomorrow, DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) recently hosted a transformative Induction Training Program. This unique initiative, supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), aims to immerse students in the region’s rich tapestry of socio-cultural and historical traditions while equipping them with the indispensable skill set to surmount the academic challenges that college life presents. During the Induction Training Program, the new entrants, their parents, faculty, and dignitaries performed a ‘Hawana Yajna’ to seek divine blessings. Chanting sacred hymns, students and faculty sought wisdom and strength for a successful academic journey, embracing spiritual values alongside academic excellence.

Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice-Chancellor of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU), and the esteemed Chief Guest delivered an inspiring address. He emphasized the importance of embracing a multidisciplinary approach to education and encouraged the students to explore diverse fields of knowledge. Dr. Mittal stressed the need for continuous learning and adaptability in the fast-changing world. As the Chief Guest, he motivated the new entrants to aim for excellence in their academic pursuits and to cultivate a sense of responsibility towards society.

Mr. Jaspal Singh, Chief Engineer, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, and the esteemed Guest of Honour, delivered an insightful address. He highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and creativity among the students. He inspired the students to own the institution and gave them a 5 step formula for success viz Dream Big, be courageous, have a positive attitude, work hard, and believe in yourself.

Mr. Arwind Ghai, Secretary of DAVCMC (Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Management Committee), addressed the new entrants with heartfelt words. He warmly welcomed the students to the DAV family and emphasized the institution’s rich legacy of academic excellence and character building.

Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their presence. DAVIET KICKSTARTS INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM (SIP – 2022) FOR THE NEW ENTRANTS ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2022

DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology started the Engineering Induction Training Program for the new entrants of B.Tech First year here today. The Induction Training aims to equip the students with the necessary skills set to perform well in the latest phase of their lives. During the program, students will be provided information regarding Research Opportunities,  Academic Initiatives, Job Scenarios, and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell, Sports, and Culture Activities. The unique attraction was the keynote address on day one by Mr. Simerjeet Singh, an international motivational speaker, and Acharya Raju Vigyanik, an eminent Arya Samajist.

Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Head Department of Applied Sciences, welcomed the new entrants. She highlighted that DAV provides a unique blend of modern scientific knowledge with rich Vedic Arya Samaj Values. Further, she added that in the modern-day world, having the technical know-how is essential, but at the same time, understanding social responsibility leading to mutual harmony is a must. She highlighted the need to remain motivated and focused during the tough times of the pandemic to bring about new dawn where everyone is safe and healthy. She also encouraged the students to give their best to follow in the footsteps of their seniors who have made stellar achievements making DAVIET a high seat of learning.

The chief attraction of the day was the keynote address by Mr. Simerjeet Singh, a motivational speaker of repute. He wanted the students to understand that they should not try to be someone else and try to be the best version of themselves. He stated that we should commit to a positive view of life every day. He also shared that the students must give their best and enter into a partnership with the institution to get the best results. He highlighted the importance of knowing one’s purpose because life is like a rudderless ship without a purpose. He also shared the need for passion and commitment toward one’s goal. He highlighted that one could succeed in life by treading on unchartered territory. He advised the freshers to keep good company because our company decides who we are. He asked the students to practice Kaizen, achieve small wins to boost self-esteem and make efforts without expecting applause. He asked the students to develop two essential skills: problem-solving and communication skills. He also asked the students to set their priorities right and become professionally responsible, and register on LinkedIn. He shared that adaptability is the buzzword that can take an individual places, and in the current Covid 19 scare, it has become the chief survival skill. He enthused the students to dream big and give their best to make learning a habit.

Another Eminent speaker Acharya Raju Vigyanik also interacted with the students and highlighted the importance of Vedas in our life. He touched upon the lives of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and  Mahatma Hansraj to emphasize that the need of the hour is to become good human beings to transform society. He urged the students to remain sincere, humble, punctual, and value time. In a very interactive way, he touched upon various problems facing modern man today. He highlighted the problems in front of the current generation and highlighted that the solutions out to be found holistically He also highlighted that monetary success alone could not ensure happiness and prosperity in one’s life. He stressed that means should justify the ends in each of the pursuits of man.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, welcomed the new entrants to the DAVIET campus. He highlighted that by securing a seat in the institution, the students took that initial step towards achieving their goals as DAVIET is a nationally acclaimed technical education institution. He highlighted that we are passing through unprecedented times, but DAVIET is fully prepared to tackle any exigency. He highlighted the achievements of the alumni and motivated the new entrants to follow in the footsteps of their seniors. He also shared that DAVIET is the only institution MSME recognized as a host institution. He urged the students to develop unique ideas about entrepreneurship, and the institution could help get a grant of up to 15 lakh for the project. Finally, he urged the students to give their best in every situation and be the flag bearers of DAVIET.

STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAM-2021

SIP [Student Induction Program] for the new entrants in B. Tech. First year was organized by the department of Applied Sciences from October 11 to 29 October, 2021. The Induction Program aimed at providing the students the necessary information and the exposure to perform well during their stay in the college. During the program, students were provided information regarding Research Opportunities, Academic Initiatives, Job Scenarios and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell, Sports and Culture Activities. The special focus of the Student Induction Program was to inculcate the qualities of team spirit and universal human values by encouraging students to introspect and discuss their views in special interactive sessions. To help the students know their purpose in life and remain motivated to achieve their goals special motivational sessions with industry academia leaders were organized. The unique attraction of this start of the program was the keynote addresses by Mr. Simerjeet Singh, an international motivational speaker and by Dr. G. S. Randhawa, Professor, IIT, Roorkee.

The induction program was initiated with the blessings of GOD by lightning of the lamp followed by the welcome address and blessings of Head of the department of Applied Sciences and worthy Principal Professor (Dr.) Manoj Kumar.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences, on behalf of our Head of the Department & Associate Professor, Dr. Kanchan L Singh, welcomed the new entrants. The other impressive lecture was given by Dr. G. S. Randhawa, IIT, Roorkee Professor of Biotechnology (retired), in which he explained his successful life experience to new entrants with his own life experience. He did hands-on activities with students to teach and understand them. He advised students to be more informed and diligent, success will automatically follow you. He gave many examples from his own life, from which he explained that it is important to learn a lot and always work hard, but never worry about the future and the carrier. Because if you’re knowledgeable enough, success should follow.

The next prominent personality was Mr. Abhishek Mehra, President, Yuva Bharat, Jalandhar District who delivered lecture Meditation & Mind Relaxation session for the three days during second week of “Student induction program-2021” for the new entrants in which he explained the freshers about yoga techniques by which they can keep their mind and body relaxed.

Next keynote speaker of the Induction Program Were Dr. Pallavi Khanna, Chief Counsellor – Medical and Psychiatric Social Worker and Counselling Psychologist, who delivered a lecture on “Heartfulness Meditation” The Happiness Program introduced that it ignites a desire to understand oneself and learn ways to harmonize one’s inner with the revolutionary yogic techniques that studies show is ‘not only therapeutic for stress and depression, but also benefit the immune system, improve brain function, and improve overall health by reducing stress and raising your energy, bringing you back to a clear and positive state.

An expert talk delivered on “Electoral Literacy” as a part of SVEEP initiative for 36-Jalandhar North area during the “Student Induction Program-2021”. The expert talk was delivered by Ms. Ashima Saini, Head, Department of Political Sciences, KMV Jalandhar and SVEEP Nodal officer 36 Jalandhar North. The Chief Guest of the function was Ms. Anupam Kaler, PCS and Deputy Director Urban Local Bodies Jalandhar. The basic aim of the talk was to spread electoral awareness amongst the budding engineers so that they should become responsible and conscientious citizens of the nation. Ms Ashima Saini, while speaking on the importance of electoral literacy stated that in India every citizen has the power to run the country by selecting the right representatives. She highlighted the fact that the voters should select the candidates wisely as a small error in judgment can send the wrong leader at the top. She also shared the fact that the young generation is not interested in the electoral process and need of the hour is to involve them actively in it. She highlighted the fact that the election commission of India started the SVEEP initiative to spread awareness in masses about the importance of voting. She shared that citizen who are responsible and committed can take the right decisions and select the most suitable candidates to lead the country. The Chief Guest of the function Ms. Anupam Kaler had a fruitful interaction with the students. She encouraged them to ask questions and while giving answers highlighted that as citizens we should rise above the differences of caste, culture and creed to select the most suitable candidates to lead the country. She also shared the fact that SVEEP stands for Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation. She stated that the youngsters are the future of the nation and they should be encouraged to come forward and get themselves registered as voters to steer the nation forward. Principal Prof. Dr Manoj Kumar applauded the efforts being done by election commission representatives to spread electoral awareness. He highlighted the fact that every student above the age of eighteen should cast his vote. He also encouraged the students to be in touch with the election ambassadors of the college to clarify any doubt about the registration process and the steps involved in casting votes. He expressed his belief that all the students will take active part in the election process and will contribute their bit in taking the nation forward.

A session was arranged on “Art of Living” delivered by Ms. Saloni Kalra arranged for students for their stress management skills ability enhancements during their studies.

A sessional lecture was delivered by the source of inspiration to youngsters, young Vedic scholar Dr. Udyan Arya Principal Gurukul, Kartarpur delivered a particular lecture at DAVIET in Jalandhar. Addressing the youngsters, he shared important principles of Vedic Philosophy with them and said “All Indians should try to know and understand the knowledge of the Vedas which is heritage of the world.”

The three-week students’ induction program was scheduled daily from early morning till evening equippedwith different activities including lectures by eminent personalities, parents’ interaction with the faculty of the Department of Applied Sciences followed by a visit to various labs on day one. The lecture by Dr. Sudhir Sharma, Dean Academics & Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, in which he explained all the academic rules and regulations of the Institute as well as the affiliated University. He told about what to do and what not to do.The lecture by Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Dean students’ affairs & Head, Department of Civil Engineering, in which he explained all the rights and responsibilities of the students and regulations of the Institute as well as the affiliated University. He stressed on the rights of students and make them aware of about them as well highlighted the responsibilities of the students toward institution, parents and the nation and also shown them the path to students to achieve those qualities to fulfil the responsibilities. The other lecture was delivered by Dr. Harman Preet Singh, Librarian in which he explained all the available stock of books, resources, journals, magazines etc. He gave the knowledge of the access to the digital library and about CAE of the institute as well as the tied-up e-resources available for the students in DAVIET. The other lecture was by Dr. Kiran Ahuja on behalf of Dean RIC, DAVIET in which she explained to the new entrants about the research opportunities and Different technical competition. She explained about online e-resources for the same. The other sessions of the induction program had included Meditation,Yoga, Art & craft, Human values lectures, Informative sessions by Various Deans for informing students, Lectures by different Cells and Clubs co-ordinators and mentors of the institute to introduce them and inform about the activities of the cells and clubs, Sessions on Mind & body relaxation, various diagnostics tests of learning styles and English vocabulary, Lecture and test by department of  Training and Placement on Job opportunities and Entrepreneurship followed by diagnostic test of their skills, Lecture by Director Sports on Need of fitness activities in Engineering, Lectures on pre-requisite by the students in Engineering Few glimpses:

On the last day of first week there was a recreational tour arranged for the new entrants to PinglaGhar. It is for the exposure of students about the conditions of under privileged. PinglaGhar is a home for the homeless, providing care to handicapped, destitute, mentally retarded and the abandoned. The students were accompanied by Dr. Nitin Kalra, and Dr. Bhupinder Singh,Assistant Professors, Department of Applied Sciences.

In Student Induction Program-2021, the last three days were scheduled for presentations by the new entrants and their feedback about the program and various information sessions arranged for the students. The second and third last days consecutively were the days arranged for “Talent Hunt” Adharva-2021 and last day was arranged for the feedback session.TheInduction Program concluded by a vote of thanks by Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Head Department of Applied Sciences and the blessings of Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Dean Students and head department of Civil Engineering.

The Induction Training aimed at equipping the students with the necessary skills set to perform well in the latest phase of their lives. During the program, students will be provided information regarding Research Opportunities,  Academic Initiatives, Job Scenarios and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell, Sports and Culture Activities. The special attraction was the key note address on day one by MrPardeep Sharma, a motivational speaker of repute..

She highlighted the fact that in the modern day world having the technical knowhow is important but at the same time the understanding of social responsibility leading to mutual harmony is must. She motivated the students to give their best to follow in the footsteps of their seniors who have made stellar achievements making DAVIET a high seat of learning.

He also shared that DAVIET is one of the two institutes which is offering the students Hons and Minor degrees alongside their regular degrees. He urged the students to give their best in every situation and be the flag bearers of DAVIET name.

On the concluded days students were having different sessions on Human values, communication skills, Interaction of Dean Students Affair, Interaction of Head of the Departments and senior faculties with students, Art and craft sessions etc. A well planned schedule has been prepared and executed by all the involved faculty members for the students. The students were very enthusiastic and motivated during these lectures and sessions arranged for them .

Student Induction Program for the new entrants in B. Tech. First year was organized by the department of Applied Sciences from 15 July to 3 August, 2019. The Induction Program aimed at providing the students the necessary information and the exposure to perform well during their stay in the college. During the program, students were provided information regarding Research Opportunities,  Academic Initiatives, Job Scenarios and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell, Sports and Culture Activities. The special focus of the Student Induction Program was to inculcate the qualities of team spirit and universal human values by encouraging students to introspect and discuss their views in special interactive sessions. To help the students know their purpose in life and remain motivated to achieve their goals special motivational sessions with industry academia leaders were organized. The prominent among them were Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab who spoke on the topic “Ethnocentric Behavior and Internalization Challenges”.

In his address he highlighted the need not to judge others on the basis of race or culture. He shared that every culture has a different language and sets of customs and rituals which are sacrosanct to the individuals. They should not become the basis of negative image generation. He highlighted the reasons of racial prejudices and stated that it is narrow bent of mind which is at the root cause of the problems. Further, he shared that ethnocentric behavior affects our world view about nationalism and patriotism. He stressed that nationalism is fine upto  an extent but when it becomes dangerous for others, it has to be stopped. He touched upon the fact that quality education alone can help us stop thinking on ethnocentric lines. The second most impressive lecture was by Dr. G. S. Randhawa, Professor (Retired) Biotechnology from IIT, Roorkee in which he explained the new entrants the way of being successful in academic life with his own life experiences. He performed practical activities with students to teach them and to make them understand. The next prominent personality was Mr. Abhishek Mehra, President, Yuva Bharat, Jalandhar District who delivered lecture Meditation & Mind Relaxation session for the three days during second week of “Student induction program-2019” for the new entrants in which he explained the freshers about yoga techniques by which they can keep their mind and body relaxed. The other prominent person was “The Memory Genius” Mr. Kunwer Rajeev, who is Associate Professor of Physics at DAV College, Jalandhar. He delivered a motivational lecture on “Mind & Memory skills”. He had certified five memory records – two in Limca Book of Records and three in India Book of Records – in his name. Recently he got his name registered with World Records India, which certified and acknowledged new World Records made in India. Mr. Rajeev shared his life experience with the engineering freshers.

Mr. Kunwer Rajeev shared with students the four important components of memory enhancement i.e. willingness, concentration, revision and practice. He also suggested making planners for repeated revision that would help in better performance in their exams. He guided students to note every activity for atleast one second so that it get memorised easily to avoid memory loss. He taught the basic of reverse counting to improve memory. All the students keenly noted down the important tips and techniques given by the expert for enhancing memory.

He offered audience to test his memory and for that many students put forth their queries which were spontaneously answered without any mistake by Mr. Kunwer Rajeev. The audience left spell bound by the live demonstrations of the memory capabilities of Mr. Kunwer Rajeev. Next keynote speakers of the Induction Program Were Dr. Pallavi Khanna, Psychologist who delivered a lecture on “Social and emotional life in college” and Mrs. Archana Sukhija & Mr. Raman Wadhwa who presented a session on “Art of Living – The Happiness Program” They introduced the program that it ignites a desire to understand oneself and learn ways to harmonize one’s inner with the revolutionary yogic breathing techniques that studies show is ‘not only therapeutic for stress and depression, but also benefit the immune system, improve brain function, and improve overall health by reducing stress and raising your energy, bringing you back to a clear and positive state of mind.

Student Induction Program-2019 was started with Havan Yajna so that the new entrants have the blessings of almighty GOD on this auspicious day.

On the last day of every week there was a tour arranged for the new entrants.

In the first week of Student Induction Program a recreational tour for the students was arranged to Jung-e-azaadi memorial situated on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway in Kartarpur. the students came to know about the history of punjab and contribution and sacrifices made by the Punjabi community in Indian independence movement. In the Second week of Student Induction Program-2019, a recreational tour to Devi Talab Mandir, Akshardham Mandir and Pingla Ghar was arranged. Devi Talab Mandir is one of the 51 Shakthi pithas in India and is devoted to Goddess Durga ji and believed to be at least 200 years old. Akshardham Mandir is located on Jalandhar-Amritsar highway (a very peaceful temple whose best thing is the architectural beauty). The most important part of the tour is visit to Pingla Ghar. ENGINEERING INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM-2018

Engineering Induction Training Program for the new entrants in B. Tech. First year was organized by the department of Applied Sciences from 16 July to 3 August, 2018. The Induction Program aimed at providing the students the necessary information and the exposure to perform well during their stay in the college. During the program, students were provided information regarding Research Opportunities,  Academic Initiatives, Job Scenarios and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell, Sports and Culture Activities. The special focus of the Engineering Induction Training Program was to inculcate the qualities of team spirit and universal human values by encouraging students to introspect and discuss their views in special interactive sessions. To help the students know their purpose in life and remain motivated to achieve their goals special  motivational sessions with industry academia leaders were organized. The prominent among them were Mr. Simerjeet Singh, an International Motivational Speaker, Ms. Tarveen Kaur, a Personal  Performance Coach, Mr. Deepak Vohra, experienced Indian diplomat ambassador, Dr. Pallavi Khanna, a psychologist of repute, Mr. Jatendra Narula who is the AICTE Punjab nominee for Engineering Induction Training Program, Dr. Ramnita Sharda, Associate Professor of English and Dr. Narinder Singh, Associate Professor, Chemistry, IIT Ropar. Dr. Kanchan L. Singh, Head Department of Applied Sciences welcomed the new entrants. She highlighted that DAV provides a unique blend of modern scientific knowledge with rich Vedic Arya Samaj Values.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, welcomed the new entrants to DAVIET campus. He highlighted the fact that that by securing a seat in the Institution the students have taken that initial step towards achieving their goals as DAVIET is a nationally acclaimed institution of Technical education.

Dr. Sonia Chawla, the Vice Principal DAVIET, in her address highlighted that for three weeks the new entrants will be initiated into the DAV Culture  and efforts will be made to forge new ties with the students that will prove to be productive and fruitful.

The chief attraction of the program was the motivational lectures by Mr. Simerjeet Singh on the topic Succeeding in an Ever Changing World.

Day one concluded with the registration of students and the parents interaction with the faculty of the Department of Applied Sciences which was followed by a visit to various labs and the remaining  days were scheduled from early morning till evening by different activities of Yoga, Art & craft and informatory sessions by different Deans, Wardens, Librarian, Cells and clubs of the institute. Few glimpses:

On last day of week there was a tour arranged for the new entrants. In the first week of Engineering Induction Program a recreational tour for  the students was arranged to  Jung-e-azaadi memorial situated on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway in Kartarpur. the  students came to know about the history of punjab and contribution and sacrifices made by the Punjabi community in Indian independence movement. In the second week a recreational tour for  the students was arranged to “Science City, Kaputhala for the knowledge of scientific facts and engineering trends. Few glimpses:

To inculcate the qualities of team spirit and universal human values and our Indian culture, DAVIET followed the traditional way and decided to perform havan yajna every Tuesday morning during this induction program.

In the Engineering Induction Program last session was scheduled for presentations by the new entrants and their feedback about the program and various informatory sessions arranged for the students. Few glimpses:

The Induction Program was attended by various HODs, Deans and faculty of the institute & the program was concluded by a vote of thanks by  Dr. Kanchan L Singh, HOD, Department of Applied Sciences.

INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM FOR THE NEW ENTRANTS

DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology organised the Induction Training Program from 4-7-2017 to 14-07-2017 for the new entrants in B.Tech. First year. This Program was aimed to provide the students the necessary information and the exposure to perform well during their stay in the college. During the program, students were provided information regarding Research Opportunities, Academic Initiative, Job Scenarios and the required skills set, Community Services Initiatives, Entrepreneurship Cell & Startups, Sports and Culture Activities, Student welfare initiatives & various Clubs activites.

The special attraction was the eight motivational interactive sessions with industry academia leaders like Mr. Simarjeet Singh, an International Motivational Speaker, Ms. Tarveen Kaur, a Personal  Performance Coach, Ms. Navneet Bal, SDM Shahkot, Mr. Satnam Singh Manak, Senior Journalist, Dr. Udyan Arya, Principal Gurukul Kartarpur, Mr. Ahsan ul Haq President JMA, Mr. Sudhir Gera and Mr. Suresh Seth.

The Students were also provided with an  opportunity to learn French Language during the program for which Ms. Nabnita Sinha was the expert. Students were also provided a basic knowledge of the role of the Sciences, the importance of English and Engineering vocabulary through interactive sessions between various HODs/faculty and the students. Various clubs of the institute showcased their talent and their achievements so that the new entrants are enthused to join these clubs to hone their talents.  During this induction program students were tested on their skills and generated a self assessment of their own.
