About Workshop
This workshop will provide a hand on practical experience on Latex and is one of its first kind in the state of Punjab. LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for technical or scientific papers writing for journals by researchers, engineers and mathematicians at large. The typesetting system offers programmable writing features and extensive facilities for automating most aspects of typesetting . The various features of Latex are
- Typesetting journal articles, technical reports, books, and slide presentations.
- Control over large documents containing sectioning, cross-references, tables and figures.
- Typesetting of complex mathematical formulas.
- Advanced typesetting of mathematics with AMS-LaTeX.
- Automatic generation of bibliographies and indexes.
- Multi-lingual typesetting.
- Inclusion of artwork, and process or spot colour.
- Using PostScript or Meta font fonts.
Computer Society of India (CSI)
Computer Society of India (CSI) had been formed in 1965 and working as a informative and technological guide in the rapidly changing IT industry. Today, the CSI has 66 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 40,000 members. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals.
DAVIET is a institutional member of CSI and started CSI student chapter in the institute with 150 students members. Under its aegis we have organized various technical events for students , now this workshop is a another step forwards to achieve the objectives of CSI.
Open Source University Meetup (OSUM)
The Open Source University Meet up (OSUM) is a global community of students supported by SUN Microsystems that are passionate about Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The community provides a platform for young and motivated ideas to share and spread the message of “free” software movement around the world.
DAVIET is one of the student members of widely spread OSUM community and is consistently organizing events to promote the open source tools and technologies in its campus.
