DAVIET ROLLS OUT TECHNOVENZA 2017 TO PROMOTE AWARENESS ABOUT INNOVATION AND RESEARCH IN NASCENT DISCIPLINES.
TECHNOVENZA 2017, a national level tech fest was organized by the department of Computer Application here at DAVIET campus. The tech fest aimed at bringing together the experts from the academia and industry on a common platform so as to provide the students the much needed exposure about the latest developments in the nascent and ever developing field of Computer Application.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET welcomed the Chief Guest, Dr. Lalit Awasthi, Director DR. B. R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar and participants from other institutions to Technovenza 2017. He urged upon the students to excel in any one of the programming languages. Further, he stated that such tech fests provide students a chance to interact with their peers from other institutions and gain immensely from the mutual exchange. He also highlighted that through Hands on workshops conducted by the experts from academia and industry, the students get a chance to be equipped with the latest technical skill set which is the quintessential requirement to be successful in the corporate world today.
Dr. Lalit Awasthi in his address highlighted that mere focus on theoretical knowledge can’t make a successful professional. He appreciated the hard work put in by the host Institution to organize such an event. He motivated the students by telling them that, “ what you want to be , you become”. While giving the students the mantra for success he emphasized the importance of dreaming big, working hard to achieve the goal, and be inspired from the lives of great men like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He also highlighted that the youth of today is a storehouse of immense energy .It is very important for this energy to be harnessed properly. He showed his confidence that TECHNOVENZA 2017 will bring innumerable opportunities for the students to display their talent in a conducive environment.
During the course of two days , students will get a chance to participate in workshops on App Development and Robotics to be conducted by Mr. Gurmeet Sharma, Director EESPL, Mohali. In addition to these they would get a chance to test their knowledge in a technical quiz “ Pop The Question” and Technical events like “ Nail It”, “ Debut De Idea”, “ Solve the Cube”, “ Code Tag”, “ Website Weaving”, “ Query Master” and “ Fast and Dangerous”
The inaugural function was attended by Dr. Sonia Chawla, Dean Academics, Dr. Sudhir Sharma, Dean Research and Innovation, Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Ms. Harpreet Bajaj, Head Department of Computer Science and Technology, Mr. Gaurav Dhuria, Head Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr Parveen Kakkar, Head Department of Computer Application, Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Head Department of Applied Sciences and faculty and staff of the institution.
Day-II

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET congratulated the department of Computer Application for organizing such an event. He highlighted that in order to provide exposure to participants from other institutions, the students of Computer Applications have played perfect hosts and have not participated in events. He also highlighted that such techno cultural festivals help the students develop their inter personal skills and teach them how to work in a team. He also highlighted that through Hands on workshops conducted by the experts from academia and industry, the students get a chance to be equipped with the latest technical skill set which is the quintessential requirement to be successful in the corporate world today.
Mr. Parveen Kakkar, Head Department of Computer Application shared that through the tech fest students will get a chance to equip themselves with the latest skill set required to perform well in the industry. While talking about the events he highlighted that two workshops have been organized for the students. The first one is on App Development in which Mr. Gurmeet Sharma, Director EESPL, Mohali talked about how to develop android based apps and apps based on C ++ and other languages. In the second workshop on Robotics, Mr Gurmeet Sharma, held a session on robotics and demonstrated how to use internet of things with robots. Apart from these there were events like Pop the Question, which is a technical quiz, Debut De Idea which is Paper Presentation, Web Weaving in which students have to develop Websites, Ever so Clever which revolves around logic development solutions to Problems in C++ and Java, Nail It which involves advertisement development, Impressions in which logo designing has to be done using coral draw etc.
The response to the tech fest has been phenomenal as approximately 250 students participated in the two day tech fest.
