CAREER PATH FOR STUDENTS

Graduates of Electrical Engineering have a number of options available. They may engage in the analysis, simulation, design of electrical energy systems, manufacturing, testing or servicing of electrical or electronics equipment, engineering related software development or they may go in for higher studies in specialized areas of Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering. Most of the jobs are in engineering and business consulting firms, manufacturers of electrical equipment, industrial machinery and professional & scientific instruments. Communications and utilities firm’s manufacturers of aircraft and computer based firms also employ electrical engineers. In the government sector electrical engineers find jobs in the various electricity boards as well as in the armed forces. One can appear for the “Indian Engineering Services” exam conducted by the UPSC at the national level or join various departments at the state level through their respective exams.

Workshop Training / Institutional Training

Department conducts 4 week workshop training programme for the students entering the 2nd year. The whole training is divided into following programmes:

  1. PCB Designing.
  2. Motor Winding.
  3. Transformer Winding.
  4. Electrical Wiring.
  5. Industrial Visit

The students design their own transformers and electronic circuits. The students undergo on job training of motor winding and electrical wiring in the labs. Industrial visits are also arranged to give industrial exposure to students.

After 4th semester a training of four weeks is mandatory for students of B. Tech. Electrical engineering as PTU curriculum. The various fields in which the students undertake this training are like automation, PLC and SCADA, computer languages and electronic system etc. Each student prepares one project during the training to understand the concepts in a better way.
