Centenary Birth Celebrations of Saheed –E-Azam S. Bhagat Singh

DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar celebrated 100th Birth Anniversary of great martyr Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh titled “INQUILAB”on September 28th, 2007. Sh. S.P.S.Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, Sr. Gurmeet Singh, Trustee, Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Hall, Jalandhar, Prof. Lakhbir Singh, DAV College, Jalandhar were affably invited as Special Guests and speakers on the occasion. They shared their views on freedom struggle and heroes of freedom. They threw light on life of S. Bhagat Singh and advised the youth to adopt virtuous life style. 
Sh. C.L.Kochher, Director-cum-Principal of DAVIET paid his accolade to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the most famous faces of Indian freedom struggle. Prin. Kochher in his speech stated that Shaheed Bhagat Singh is a symbol of heroism for the youth of India and they should follow the same moral and patriotic values in their lives. He avowed that youngsters should be determined for their goals to achieve astounding things in life. He averred that 'INQUILAB' is required again to introduce change in society. He affirmed that Indians have best brain in the world, so this is correct time to impede brain drain.
An edifying documentary to depict the life of S. Bhagat Singh was also shown.  Sr. Jagmohan Singh presented a patriotic song that inculcated the feeling of patriotism in all present there. Natyam Jaiton, presented a play titled "Mai Bhagat Singh Haan" in a very ingenious and artistic way. 
Sh. C.L.Kochher presented a token of gratitude to the honorable guests and thanked for sparing their valuable time for inspiration of students. 
 

 

Blood Donation and Drug De-addiction

DAV Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, in association with Bharat Vikas Parishad organized a gigantic seminar on Drug De-addiction abreast a mega blood donation camp in the highly titivated campus of DAVIET on August 11, 2007. Sh. Arpit Shukla (IPS), Jalandhar remained the Chief Guest whereas Sh. K.D. Bhandari (MLA) graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Er. C.L. Kochher, Director-cum-Principal, DAVIET presided over the function.

 Sh. Sudershan Chouhan mesmerized the audience as a guest speaker. Mr. Mahesh Gupta, President, Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Mr. Harshwardhan Sharma, Secretary, BVP, Mr. Pramod Duggal, Treasurer, BVP, Mr. Raj Kumar Choudhary, Chairman, BVP, Sh. Raj Sabharwal, District President, BVP, Dr. Kapil Gupta, Project Director, BVP, Sh. Pawan Malhotra, Sh. Yash Mahan, Sh. Ravi vasadeva , Sh. V.K. Dutta, Sh. S.D. Sharma, Sh. P.K Garg, Sh. In his welcome speech, Er. C.L Kochher lionized the efforts of Bharat Vikas Parishad to organize such a noble seminar on drug de-addiction. He congratulated the parishad for conducting a blood donation camp with the help of DAVIETians. He expressed his gratitude to Sh. Arpit Shukla for sparing his precious time for this welfare cause. He admired    Sh. K.D. Bhandari and stated that he is probably the only politician who shuns security. To get rid of drugs, he advised to adopt good life style, good dietary habits, meditation and yoga to the audience.
 
Sh Harshwrdhan Sharma glorified the joint venture by Bharat Vikas Parishad and DAVIET. In his lecture he stated that all types of intoxicants are harmful to health. He created awareness of the negative effects of drugs and alcohol in society and mentioned that alcohol can lead life to death.
 
Sh. K.D. Bhandari, the young dynamic politician inspired the youngsters to join hands against a remarkable campaign against the drug addiction. He expressed that the police department would be free from any political pressure when they worked especially against the drug addicts.
 
Sh. Arpit Shukla focused that a single person can definitely bring a positive change in the whole society. He advised people that they should feel free to inform him, when they notice any drug menace in any part of the society.
 
Sh. Sudershan Chouhan inspired the youngsters to clutch the problem of drug addiction. In a very lucid manner, he distinguished Sanskriti from Culture. He instigated the youth to eschew valentine and friendship day and embrace blood donation and drug de-addiction days.
 
The students of DAVIET presented a heartrending choreography, which exposed the evil face of drug addicts. A colossal number of motivated persons donated blood at blood donation camp in convention hall of DAVIET. 


   

 

Ram Navami Utsav Committee’s Scholarship Distribution Ceremony.

             DAV Institute of Engg. &Technology, Jalandhar, in the association with Sh, Ram Navami Utsav Committee (regd.) Jalandhar has organized a Scholarship Distribution Ceremony for the economically weaker students of Jalandhar under the President ship of Sh. Vijay Kumar Chopra, Chairman Hind Samachar group of newspaper jalandhar. Sh. Vinod Aggarwal, being the Project Director of Ram Navami Utsav Committee expressed his humble gratitude to one and all present there. This benevolent function was conducted in Lala Chanchal Das Auditorium of DAVIET on September 2, 2007.
Sh. Charanjit Singh Atwal, Deputy Speaker (Lok Sabha), Sh. Manoranjan Kalia, Local Bodies & Industrial Minister, (Pb.), Captain Kanwaljit Singh, Co-operation Minister Punjab, Sh. Sucha Singh langha, Agricultural Minister Punjab, Master Mohan lal Transport Minister Punjab, Sh. Navjot Singh Sidhu, MP, Rana gurjit Singh, MP, Sh. Jagbir Singh Brar,MLA, Sh. Kamal Choudary, Ex. MP, And Sh. C.L.Kochher, Director-cum-Principal DAV Institute Of Engineering and Technology, kindly consented to be the guests of honor.
The committee selected 220 schools and further asked them to select any five under privileged students from their respective schools. The employees of UCO BANK gave the distinguished guests the stipends and cheques to the students on the spot abreast. The students were also given bags, stationary and sweets.
The students of DAVIET mesmerized the audience by performing group songs, solo songs, skit, mimicry and other cultural events. The function was concluded with refreshment.
Trail of Glory – Formal inaugural of MBA course & welcome of Ist Batch of MBA

DAV institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar inaugurated the new state-of-the-art Post Graduate Block and extended a formal welcome to the founder batch of M.B.A in its profoundly titivated Convention Hall on August 30, 2007. Sh. S. D. Omchary, secretary, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi remained the chief guest, whereas Sh. D. R. Gupta, Director (Colleges), DAVCMC, New Delhi, joined the occasion as the esteemed guest of honour. The two gigantic activities proved to be an additional fantabulous feather in the cap of DAVIET.

DAVIET has a long cherished convention to invoke the holy muse before the commencement of any activity. In the same fashion both of the major events were started with Havan Yajna and prayers to Almighty. Sh. D. R. Gupta and Sh. S. D. Omchary executed the formal inauguration of PG Block by placing the foundation stone. The students of DAVIET mesmerized the audience by performing solo and western group dance, folk song and a heart rending gazal by Sh. Sanjeev Naval, H.O.D Civil.

Sh. C. L. Kochher, Director-cum-principal, DAVIET in his welcome address lionized the presence of Sh. S. D. Omchary, Sh. D. R. Gupta,  staff members, new entrants of MBA and their parents. He assured the MBA students that the institute would provide full support and all the possible facilities for the over all development of pupils. He stated that the founder batch would prove to be a remarkable milestone for the successors. He concluded that the budding administrators and executives would surely be securing a warm place in the society.

Sh. S. D. Omchary is an M.B.A from a renowned foreign university,  Managing Director of D.C.M. group along with the Chairman of Education Trust of D.C.M.  group. He is a dynamic young man who has been entrusted the responsibility of secretariatship of DAV CMC. He appreciated the efforts of DAVIETians to glorify the esteemed name of DAV Managing Committee. Being an MBA, he is having the first hand experience of business administrations that he shared with the new entrants. The esteemed chief guest inspired the students by citing quotes from his real life experiences. He added to their knowledge the relevance of changing fashion and trends in the field of industry at both domestic and international level
 
Sh. D. R. Gupta admired youth and inspired them to come forward and steal the show. He mentioned that DAV trust does not advocate any specific religion or race but talks about the humble humanity. He added that before independence and almost a century ago, DAV trust elaborated that “In these institutes, we shall produce men and women of national character”, the same tradition has been prevailing even now. He assured that we are committed to provide the latest knowledge with Indian flavour. He assured top class faculty, library facility and fabulous infrastructure for M B A students.

“AGNI” –
 A hunt  for the passion and manifestation of talent of MBA students.

Development of versatile personalities is what the field of management demands. Keeping this perspective in view, the department of business management organized a talent hunt competition- “Agni” for the students of Business Management.
 Honorable Sh C L Kochher Director-cum-Principal DAVIET graced this mega event as a chief guest. He emphasized that creativity should commensurate with academics to produce highly enriched professionals. The occasion was graced by the benign presence of heads of all the departments of the institute. Mr. Sanjeev Bhalla (HOD Business Management) along with his excellent faculty organized the programme to inculcate the feeling of novelty, expression & confidence in the students.
The students enthusiastically exhibited their talent in various categories like- skit, bhangra, western dance, singing, modelling, mono-acting compeering etc.At the end of the day, talent was unleashed with its full capacities and proudly DAVIET claims to bring the additional vigour in the lives of the young minds.

Zooming MBA ----Expert Lectures

An essential part of management education is persistent enhancement of total skills, overall personality, industrial interaction & exposure. In order to achieve this objective an expert lecture by Mr S D Omchari (MD DCM group& Chairman Education Trust) was organized by the department of management. Mr.S.D Omchari presented  the topic-“State of Indian Economy in the Changing World Scenario”. He presented the students with a blueprint on the present economic status of the country & contribution of different sectors of the economy to the country’s GDP. He raised the issue of India becoming an economic superpower in the years to come & the types of skills, competencies & abilities management professionals will be requiring in future. He advised the students to keep a vigil on current affairs & state of the economy worldwide.
Communication is the life blood of any business enterprise & an integral tool of success & growth. Keeping this objective in mind the department of business management organized an expert lecture on the topic of “Communication” by Mr Vinod Singh, Senior Executive Dabur Pharmacutical Baddi. He enlightened the students by making them aware of the relevance of communication in the present world of cut throat competition. He stressed on some basic topics namely meaning, process, types, channels, importance of business communication & its practical applicability in the field of business. Mr Vinod Singh kept the flow of the lecture through contiunuous interaction with the students & by constant feedback The lecture progressed with the question answer round giving students an opportunity to clear their doubts & queries on the topic of Communication in general & Business Communication in particular.
 

           August welcoming of new entrants.

DAV Institute of Engg. &Technology, Jalandhar, started its new academic session of B-tech courses in Electronics & Communication Engg., Computer science Engg. , Information technology, Mechanical Engg., Electrical Engg. & Civil Engg. on August 1st, 2007.
 In the fortitude of DAV’s Arya Samaji fervour, Havan Ceremony was held in the elaborately titivated Lala Chanchal Das DAV Auditorium. The Vedic hymn during the Havan Ceremony Created a devout vibes. The DAVIET song performed by the students inculcated the feelings of determination among the budding engineers. 

Sh. C.L Kochher Director-CUM_Principal of DAVIET gave a rapturuous welcome to Sh, C.L. Arora, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Pr, PP Sharma, Sh. Om Prakarsh Mahajan, Sh. Ravinder kumar Sharma, Sh. Surinder Seth, Sh. S.K. Sehdev, Pr. Anita Nanda, new students their esteemed parents, distinguished guests and dignitaries present on the occasion.
Proudly he claimed that ethics are not a separate course in DAVIET but ethics are intervowen in the fabric of DAVIET .It is like the DNA of DAVIET. Apart from rekindling the flame of passion to perform Principal Kochher asked the parents to give their children entirely, so that they can create motivated, energized professionals with a mission.

 

Freshers Party

The students of 1st year of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar were given a euphoric welcome party titled Charisma’ 07 by the students of 2nd year on August 31, 2007 in the profoundly titivated Lala Chanchal Dass DAVIET Auditorium. The freshers’ were heartily welcomed in the esteemed alma mater just like a tiny toddler in the family. Predecessor DAVIETians have always been maintaining a healthy tradition of providing a warm place in their hearts for the successors. Sh. S.D. Omchary, Secretary, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi honored the occasion as the Chief Guest. Sh. S. D. Omchary, Sh. C. L. Kochher along with other notable dignitaries commenced the function by lightening the pious lamp.

Sh. C. L. Kochher, Director-cum-Principal of the Institute welcomed Sh. S.D. Omchary, Mrs Madhu Omchary, Pr. S.K Sehdev, Pr. C.L. Arora, Pr. R.K Mahajan, Pr. P.P. Shrama, Sh. O.P Mahajan, Sh. K Sharma, Sh Manoj Kumar, Sh. Amit Kohli, the distinguished guests, eminent personalities, elite gathering of dignitaries along with new entrants of B.Tech and MBA. He motivated the freshers to take part energetically in co-curricular activities along with the academics for the overall development. He encouraged the new students to follow the path of their predecessors to attain the height of success. He showered his blessings upon the youth. He appreciated the efforts of students and encouraged  them to work hard to touch the peaks of success in life. He stated that the Institute is committed to provide top class faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure for the overall development of the budding engineers and managers.

 

Sh. S. D. Omchary, the dynamic and energetic personality acclaimed the efforts of DAVIETians for continuing the remarkable tradition of DAV trusts. Being an MBA, he shared his first hand experience with the sprouting managers and technocrats. He admired the organizers for conducting these types of fantabulous activities that hone the overall personality of the individuals. He stressed upon the utility of research & development for the progress of the nation.

Various events such as Group song, Medley dance and Poem recitations were the main attractions of the function including the Freshers’ Contest. The Folk Dances spell out the audience.

60 th Independence Day Celeberations

DAV Institute of Engg. & Technology, Jalandhar celebrated Independence Day on August 15, 2007 in the sports arena with great zeal and zest. Sh. C.L. Kochher, Director-cum-Principal of DAVIET was the chief guest for this auspicious occasion. After hoisting of the National Flag with reverence, the balloons were released in order to symbolize happiness and tranquility.

In his address, Sh. C.L. Kochher advocated the students to demeanor their efforts in such a manner so as to serve the nation. He advised the students to work hard in order to become a successful engineer in life and to serve their motherland.  He appreciated the prudence of discipline among the students of DAVIET and encouraged them to continue the same, as self-discipline is indeed a key to success.

He saluted the heroic deeds of the great martyrs of India. He eulogized the sacrifice of freedom fighters in glowing terms and inspired the audience to acknowledge their remarkable efforts. He compared the progress of India with that of Japan and China and referred India as a country of youngsters full of energy. He concluded that India requires a masterstroke in the field of science and technology to become a superpower.   

Mr. M.K. Kaushik, N.S.S. Officer of DAVIET stated that our freedom fighters have done so many sacrifices in order to provide us a crown of Independence.

 The students paid tribute to the eternal soldiers in the form of patriotic song and folk dance. The sweets were also distributed among the students and faculty members of the Institute.

CONSORTIUM OF ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS

Consortium of Electrical and Electronics engineers (C3E) was founded on 5th March 2004 under the able guidance of Prof Manoj Kumar. It is the common platform for the students to sharpen their skills in various technical events and increase their motivation levels by organizing various events at the department as well as level the college level. C3E has organized various events like Mock Aptitude Test, Technical Quiz, Technical Paper Presentation, Circuit Breaker, and lots more events since its establishment.

There was a participation of 1337 students in all the events. There were team events and also individual events. The fest was sponsored by Top Career and You, SSi – Aptech, Career Launcher, Whirlpool, NIIT, Touch Automation Pvt Ltd. There was monetary sponsorship and some gift vouchers.
This event was organized completely by students of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The technowars was blended with Fun and frolic as students erected more than 10 fun activites/games stalls where enthusiasm touched its peak.

The students of DAVIET started Technowars with Saraswati Vandana. After lightning of the pious lamp a flowery welcome was given to the guests.
Dr. S.K. Salwan, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar presided over this super practical and technical carnival. Dr. Avinash Chandra, an eminent scientist in the field of missiles and Director, Advanced System Laboratory, Hyderabad remained the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ms. Sarojini Gautam Sharda, Registrar, Punjab Technical University joined as the Guest of honour. Ms. Thomas, Scientist, Advanced Laboratory, Hyderabad, PTU, Dr. V.K. Arora, Dean Academics, PTU, Prin. C.L.Arora, Chairman, Local DAVCMC and Dr. Behal, Principal, DAV College  also graced the occasion by their benign presence.
Sh. C.L Kochher, Director- cum- Principal DAVIET in his welcome address gave a rapturous hail to the distinguished guests, dignitaries, media people and all participants. He pointed out that such technical series would have great bearing on the Engineering Curriculum, exposure of industrial atmosphere to engineering students and successive placement of young graduating engineers in industries transversely the country. He highlighted the gist of technical consortiums to make the technocrats aware about the latest trends in the industry and stated that the focus of education should be on techniques to cope with the tough time along with academics. He expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries to spare their valuable time for the inspiration of students.   
An expert talk on “Technology Management for Integrated Guided Missile Program with special reference to AGNI Intercontinental Missile” was presented by Dr. Avinash Chandra. He threw light on missile evolution starting from Mahabharata up till modern stage of missiles. He elaborated missile system categories, Indian missile systems and AGNI missile in a marvelous way. He showed the basic operations of missile other than flight test. He shared his launch campaign experiences with the audience. He concluded the discussion by saying that "problem will come but the strength is to find methods to overcome those problems".
Dr. S.K. Salwan appreciated the edifying talk of Dr. Avinash Chandra. He venerated the efforts of Principal C.L.Kochher and Prof Manoj Kumar for conducting and guiding the students for such technical events. He motivated the students to work hard in order to keep pace with the upcoming technologies. 
In order to develop the all-round personality of the students and to provide them knowledge beyond academics various events were organized.

Dr. Moin Uddin, Director, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar consented to be the Chief Guest on the valedictory function. Sh. C.L Kochher, Director- cum- Principal welcomed the chief guest, other distinguished guests, media people and all participants. In his address he referred that after the success of the first day, the performances in the second day were also in the same tradition. He inspired all the students to take part in co-curricular activities, which is mandatory in the over all development of the personality.          
Prof. Manoj Kumar, HOD Electronics & Communication Engineering being the Convener of the “Technowars-07” thanked all the guests for sparing their valuable time for the Institute and the participants who showed their bizarre enthusiasm to make it a successful function. He pointed out that such technical festivals are indispensable for the budding engineers.
Various experts in the respective fields amongst the faculty made the judgment of the events. The performance shown by various teams was par excellence which was applauded by one and all. The prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions held during the prize distribution ceremony. In order to entertain the audience, the students presented western dance and Bhangra.

SPARK ’07 (In-House Technical Symposium)

Department of Computer Science & Information Technology has organized 2-day In-house Technical Symposium named SPARK’07 under the flag of PRISMA (A consortium of Computer Science & Information Technology Engineers)  from 12th October, 2007 to 13th October, 2007.
Worthy Director-cum-Principal, Prof. C.L.Kochhar was the Chief Guest of the function and he blessed and encouraged the students to actively participate in such kind of events so that they become able technocrats. He highlighted the importance of technical events to make the technocrats aware about latest trends in information technology. He pointed out that such technical series would have great bearing on exposure of industrial atmosphere to engineering students and successive placement.

Feast of   the professional soul -------R..E..S..E..A..R..C..H

DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, organized an exhibition as regards to the ‘Major Research Projects’ of its B.Tech. Final year students on Monday, the 28th May, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon in Lala Chanchal Dass – DAVIET Auditorium. 

Five major projects of each of the B.Tech. programmes viz. Electronics & Comm. Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electrical Engg., Information Technology, Mechanical Engg. and Civil Engg. were displayed & demonstrated in this exhibition.

Principal C.L. Arora, Chairman, Local DAVCMC, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. A panel of head of departments of all the trades under the leadership of Director-Cum-Principal Prof. C.L. Kochher selected the Best Student Projects.

The 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holder teams were awarded prizes worth Rs. 3000/-, 2000/-, 1000/- respectively.
                                 
  Students not only showed an expert behaviour in the Technical events but also outperformed in the various cultural events.

Rotary Club Organised a talent hunt programme in the dramatic event of monoacting  and Declamation Contest on 21st September It is regular feature of Rotary club to honour the talent of youth and DAVIET always manifested its passion to excel. Students of DAVIET are undoubtedly the treasure house of potential and they leave no stone unturnesd to glorify the esteem and prestige of the Instituite. 
 Arvind Juglan of ECE 4th Year won the second position in the monoacting in the district level organized by the Rotary Club.
Gautam & Karan of EE –3rd Semester participated in the Declamation Contest on Drug De -Addiction and Female Foeticide  and secured second position.
In the Institute itself a Talent hunt programme was organized. In the sketching event conducted on the 21st august, 2007, the first position was bagged by Sakshi Sharma, IT 1st semester and the second position was bagged by Bhavna Narang, EE 1st Semester.
In the dancing event conducted on the 22nd august, 2007, the performers were required to give a solo performance on any song of their choice. The 1st position in this event was bagged by Megha and the 2nd position was bagged by Dharamveer.
In the dramatics event conducted the 1st position was bagged by Vansh, CE 1st Semester and the 2nd position was bagged by Vivek, IT 1st semester.
In debate and elocution, the topic for debate was “Privatization of education is a curse” and that of the elocution was “Ragging is not a mischief but a crime”. The 1st position in debate was bagged by Prerna Dogra, IT 1st semester and the 2nd position was bagged by Sanchit, ME 1st semester. In the elocution event, the 1st position was bagged by Prerna Dogra, IT 1st semester and the 2nd position was bagged by Vivek Tingloo, IT 1st semester.
The event of singing was also conducted in the Talent Hunt, 2007. The 1st position in this event was bagged by Anand, CSE 1st Semester and the 2nd position was bagged by Manpreet, CSE 1st semester
