DAVIET LIFTED THE PTU INTER-ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
TROPHY (2005) FOR THE 4TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
DAV institute of engineering and technology, jalandhar created a landmark History by lifting the overall PTU INTER ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
Trophy for the fourth consecutive time. DAVIET participated in all the 25 events and secured 24 first and second Positions.The dazzling victory of the institute was admired by a gigantic Number of dignitaries including Dr. S K Salwan, vice – chancellor of Punjab Technical University, Dr. M.S. Grewal, Registerer, Sh. Avtar Henry, minister food and supply and many more.

The students of DAVIET are versatile in the performance. They are excellent in academics and exceptional in co-curricular activities. DAVIET created history by lifting the championship trophy of the 4th PTU Inter zonal Youth Festival for the fourth consecutive time in the year 2005. DAVIET is spreading wings towards perfection.

DAV Institute of engineering & Technology, Jalandhar created a landmark history by lifting the overall PTU Inter Zonal youth festival Trophy 2005 for the fourth consecutive time. It is noteworthy that Punjab Technical University has organized the Youth Festival for just four times and DAVIET has the honor to bag the overall trophy for all the four times. PTU has organized this mammoth event at Lovely Institute of Technology, Phagwara from October 28th to 30th DAVIET won the overall trophy by a gigantic difference, securing 108 points and leaving far behind the runners up team i.e., Punjab College of Technical Education, Baddowal (Ludhiana) that managed to secure merely 38 points.
Punjab Technical University divided the Zonal Youth Festival into four different zones. And the 1st and 2nd position holders participated in this gala event. All the institutes affiliated to Punjab Technical University took part in this remarkable competition in various events. From the very first day the competition proved to be one sided as the outstanding students of DAVIET participated in all the events and marked their perpetual existence in all the fields. In no other youth fest any winner team has created such a colossal difference from the runner-ups. It’s a vigorous tradition of DAVIET to secure winning after winning and the students are maintaining the custom in a healthy manner.
On the valedictory day Sh. Avtar Henry, minister food and supplies inaugurated the function and inspired the students to help Punjab to become the numero uno province in the education also. He gave away the prizes to the winners. Dr. S K Salwan, Vice chancellor, PTU, Dr. M S Grewal, Registrar, PTU, Dr. R P Singh, Sh. Rajneesh Sachdeva, Programme Co-coordinator, Sh. H S Singla and a great number of distinguished personalities witnessed the function.
Sh. C L Kochher Director-cum-Principal of DAVIET cherished the performers, Event managers and all the staff members in flying colours for this stupendous triumph.

In Zone II, 29 Institutes affiliated to Punjab Technical University took part in this remarkable competition in various events. From the very first day the competition proved to be one sided as the outstanding students of DAVIET participated in all the events and marked their perpetual existence in all the fields. In no other Zone any winner team has created such a colossal difference from the runner-ups. It’s a vigorous tradition of DAVIET to secure winning after winning and the students are maintaining the custom in a healthy manner.
Sh. C L Kochher Director-cum-Principal of DAVIET cherished the performers, Event managers and all the staff members in flying colours for this stupendous triumph. In his message he stated that the roots of any venture may be bitter but the fruit is indeed sweet. The participants and the event managers have worked very hard to attain this remarkable success. He congratulated everyone for this joint victory and inspired the students to practice even harder for the upcoming inter-zonal youth festival scheduled to be held from Oct. 28 to 30, 2005.

(IAS), secretary Punjab Association, Sh. A.S. Rajagopal,
Director, ARDE, pune, Smt. Sushima Berlia, Dr. S K Salwal, vice chancellor, PTU ,
Sh. C L kochhar, director cum principal of DAVIET were present in this gigantic fest of Technology.

Fresher’s Party-Charisma 2005
The students of 1st year were given a euphoric welcome party titled Charisma 2005 by the students of 2nd year on September 3, 2005 in the extraordinary decorated Auditorium. Sh. D.R. Gupta (Director Colleges), DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he commenced the function by lighting the pious lamp. Sh. Surinder Seth, an eminent motivator and speaker remained the Guest of Honour. Sh. M.S. Bharaj, Sh. Surinder Seth, Sh. Deepak Raja and Prof. Ranjana Chhabra were the judges for selection of Mr. Fresher and Miss. Fresher. Ujjwal Paratap Singh of Electrical Engg. And Kriti Dua of IT were declared Mr. Fresher and Miss. Fresher.

The freshers’ were welcomed in the esteemed alma mater just like a toddler in the family. Sh. D.R. Gupta, (Director Colleges), DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he commenced the function by lighting the pious lamp. Sh. Surinder Seth, an eminent motivator and speaker remained the Guest of Honour.
Sh. C. L. Kochher, Director-cum-Principal of the Institute welcomed the distinguished guests, eminent personalities and elite gathering of dignitaries from Doordarshan and Principals of various colleges. He motivated the new entrants to take part energetically in co-curricular activities along with the academics for the overall development. He encouraged the new students to follow the path of their predecessors. Sh. D.R,Gupta showered his blessings upon the youth. He appreciated the efforts of students and motivated them to work hard to touch the peak of success in life.
Various events such as Group song, Medley Dance were the main attractions of the function including the Freshers Contest. Sh. Deepak Raja, an eminent hilarious artist mesmerized the audience with his remarkable performance. Sh.M.S.Bharaj, Sh. Surinder Seth, Sh. Deepak raja and Prof. Ranjana Chhabra were judges for the selection of Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher. Ujjwal partap singh of electrical engg. and kriti Dua of information technology were declared Mr. And Miss Fresher respectively.

DAV College Managing Committee organized a “Jan Chetna Yatra” in Jalandhar on November 16, 2005 to highlight the evils of society such as dowry system, female infanticide, Corruption, AIDS etc. In this mammoth event, Sh. G.P. Chopra, President, DAV College Managing Committee piloted the motorcade. He was accompanied by Sh. D.R.Gupta, Director (Colleges) besides laudable Principals of various DAV Schools and Colleges. The staff and students of DAV Institute of Engg & Technology took active participation in this mega event. Rally commenced from Sain Dass Sr. Sec. School and terminated at the Nehru Gate. DAVIET displayed abundant posters to exemplify the endeavor of convoy. DAVIET offered fruit on the way and lunch was served to all the participants on the termination of yatra at Nehru Garden.

National Debating Competition in the pocket of DAVIET:
A national level inter-university debate on population, environment and development was organised by ‘Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development’ at New Delhi, in which the team from Punjab Technical University, represented by Varun Garg of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology and Jagnoor Singh, was adjudged first.
The motion of the house was ‘Rapid population growth leads to environmental degradation and slow national development’ and a total of seventeen universities from different parts of the country registered their teams. The inaugural lamp was lit by Dr. Yoganand Shastri, Hon’ble health minister of New Delhi, who said that the problem of population was of prime concern to make a healthy, green and chemical free India.
GOONJ -2005
The students of DAVIET participated in GOONG -2005 festival at Punjab University, chandigarh and bagged three prizes. Team of Kashish Sukhija and Hemant Dhiman of IT 3rd YEAR got second prize in the event of pre developed website competition.
Team of Manaraj Singh and Sarbesh Gupta of CSE 3rd YEAR got second prize in the event of on the spot web site development. Varun Dhiwan of ECE4th year got third prize in the event of group discussion.
Literary Achievements at a Glance
- Inter Zonal Debate Competition (National Level) on the subject “Population, Environment & Development” on 22nd August’05. 2nd position won by Varun Garg & Monica Sharma.
- PTU Inter Zonal Debating Competition held on 14th Sept.’05 at SUS College of Engg. & Technology, Tangori. Participants Varun Grag & Ankit Madaan. Varun was adjudged as the best Debater.
- Varun Garg, Abhinav Puri, Disha and Kriti participated in Declamation Contest of Rotary Club on 30.09.05. and Varun Garg secured second Position.
- Varun Garg & Tarangini participated in Poetry Competition of Rotary Club on 9th sept’05. Varun Garg won the 3rd prize.
- Rotary club organized a singing competition on 16.9.05, where Tanya(IT 1st year) and Puneet Singh(ECE 2nd year) participated and First prize was backed by Ms. Tanya.
- Quiz programme organized by Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar in November-December’05 and our quiz team remained first.
TECH-KRITI 05 & 'MILAP':THE INDUSTRY INSTITUTE INTERFACE
TECK-KRITI 05 & Industy Interface a national level technical festival held on April 6-8,2005.In the three day technical function, Sh M.C.MUNJAL,Chairman Confederation of Indian Industry(Punjab) remained Chief guest .The delegates from the Industry & Educational Institutes participated in Industry Institute Interface.
