CHARISMA - 2008
Charisma 2008… A freshers’ meet was organized on September 12, 2008 in Lala Chanchal Dass DAVIET Auditorium. Sh. S.R. Ladhar, IAS, Hon’ble Commissioner (Jalandhar Division) was the Chief Guest on the occasion which also featured Sh. Surinder Seth, Managing Editor, Dainik Bhaskar as the Guest of Honour. Several dignitaries from in and around the city graced the occasion with their revered presence.
As the rituals go, the proceedings of the gala evening commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the auspicious Saraswati Vandana.
Sh. C. L. Kochher, Director-cum-Principal of the Institute welcomed the distinguished guests, eminent personalities and elite of the city present on the occasion.
The students portrayed their exuberance through a host of performances in music and dance. There was also a Turbanator contest to decide on the boy with the best turban and Gurinder Pal Singh of Civil Engineering won the title. Among girls, Guneet Nanada of Civil Engineering won the coveted title of Ms. Smile.
The focal of the evening was the selection of Mr. & Ms. Fresher, which was a contest comprising of three rounds of Ramp Walk, Questioning and Talent exhibit. The competent trio of Mr. Surinder Seth, Ms. Kiran, Principal, SD College Jalandhar and Ms. P. P. Sharma, former principal HMV College decided upon the winners. Sarbinder Singh of ME and Nidhi of ECE were conferred with titles of Mr. and Ms. Fresher respectively. Arshdeep and Harpreet, both of IT, were the first Runner-up and Jagroop of CE and Meera of EE were declared as second Runner-up.
The Chief Guest, Sh. S.R. Ladhar, IAS, Hon’ble Commissioner (Jalandhar Division), showered his blessings upon the students of DAVIET.
