DEPARTMENT: CIVIL ENGINEERING

Considered as one of the oldest engineering disciplines, Civil Engineering involves planning, designing and executing structural works. The profession deals with a wide variety of engineering tasks including designing, supervision and construction activities of public works like roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, water works, sewage systems, ports etc. and offers a multitude of challenging career opportunities. A civil engineer is responsible for planning and designing a project, constructing the project to the required scale, and maintenance of the product. A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills. About us Established in July 2002, the Civil Engineering Department is a community of 150 students, 7 full time faculty members, several visiting and ad joint faculty members working and learning together. The department has achieved hallmark in quality education through its highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty members in all subjects of civil engineering who train the students through unique ways of program delivery to attain good professional status in their life. Mission Statement: Meeting educational, research and service needs of the region through collaboration with academic and technical institutions, industry, business and government agencies is central to our mission. Our aim is to emerge as a nationally recognized centre for research, development and application of civil engineering. Educating students to think critically, work creatively, communicate effectively and become technically sound with emphasis on practical exposure in addition with capabilities of industrial consultancy.
