Department of Applied Sciences is functioning with the principle goal of providing sound theoretical and analytical background to the novel entrants in the field of Engineering. The department was established in 2001. The department caters to upgrade the basic Knowledge of mainly first year students in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Communication Skills and Management. The mission of the Department of Applied Science is to create and disseminate knowledge and tools in intellectual areas at the interfaces between the mathematical, chemical, physical and engineering. The Department of Applied Science trains the young minds of students to explore, to innovate, to analyze and to acquaint themselves with the basics of pure science. The aim is to make the students learn the applications and use of basic sciences in engineering and technology. The department also inculcates and sharpens the skills of students in communication and familiarizes them with management skills& the economic scenario of the country. It provides a rare mix of competence in both theoretical aspects of Engineering and applied working knowledge of its practical aspects. Frequent guest lectures from eminent scientists introduce real world experience into our classrooms; each and every student gains the intellectual breadth and technical creativity to tackle the challenges of increasing complexity, globalization and rapid change. A variety of special projects and programs give students a chance to learn about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses. The major emphasis is to develop scientific temper and orientation of towards better understanding of technical and engineering problems. Highly Qualified and Research Oriented members of the faculty apart from the routine academic activities are also involved in other allied activities to enhance their knowledge. Paper presentations in various national and international Conferences and journals, writing books, participation in summer or winter schools are a few activities to name for the faculty to keep abreast with the latest requirements of education and industry.
